BRITPOP
Britpop was a golden-era of British music influenced by many genres from the sixties, seventies and eighties that preceded it. This section is dominated by the four main players in Britpop, those being Blur, Pulp, Oasis and Suede, but it is also supported by many of the other players such as Elastica, Echobelly, Sleeper, Cast, Supergrass, My Life Story and Menswear and so on. While Paul Weller is not associated with the genre (his influence spans decades), his 'Stanley Road' album was so much in tune with the time both musically, graphically and symbolically, that those releases from that album are also included here. All posters are shown in chronological order and spans the period of 1992 to 1998. This period of 'Cool Britannia' was also a period of outstanding graphic design as you will clearly see in this section, involving such classic designers such as Microdot, Stylorouge, Blue Source, The Designer’s Republic and Simon Halfon.
